1000 series aluminum alloy is not heat treatable. Its main component is pure aluminum. It is made of about 99% aluminum and does not contain any major alloying elements. Commonly used 1000 series alloys are: 1050, 1070, 1100, 1060, 1200, 1350. Among the main series, it is the cheapest aluminum alloy.
It is characterized by high ductility, high conductivity, corrosion resistance, excellent anode performance and processing performance. But the disadvantage is that it has the lowest strength and hardness among all series, and the general strength grade is about 100Mpa.
The purity of 1050 aluminum plate is 99.5%. Its tensile strength is 95-125 MPa and conditional yield strength is >75 Mpa. Compared with metals with higher alloy content, 1050 aluminum sheet has lower mechanical strength. 1050 aluminum sheet is suitable for chemical and electrolytic polishing, and has long service life, low cost, and high recycling value. The surface of 1050 aluminum sheet can be anodized.
1050 aluminum sheet is formed by adding a small amount of copper to pure aluminum. It has excellent forming and processing characteristics, high corrosion resistance, good weldability and conductivity. 1060 aluminum sheet has an aluminum content of 99.6%, and is also a kind of pure aluminum sheet. It has good elongation and tensile strength, and can fully meet the conventional processing requirements (stamping, stretching). It has high formability and can be anodized.
1060 cold-rolled aluminum sheet is widely used in lamps, signs, curtain walls, insulation and other fields, while 1060 hot-rolled aluminum sheet with a thickness of 0.1mm is used for automotive parts. In summary, 1050 aluminum sheet and 1060 aluminum sheet have many similarities in use, but there are great differences in processing technology and material composition.
Well-known pure aluminum plates such as 1100 and 1200 can be used for various purposes. The purity of both is above 99.00%. 1100 has about 0.1% Cu (copper) added, so it is more advantageous than 1200 in terms of strength. The more copper is added, the worse the corrosion resistance will be.
