Pharma aluminum foil and medical composite film are the two most important raw materials: aluminum foil and PE film. Printing, coating and lamination are the main production and processing processes of pharmaceutical aluminum foil and pharmaceutical composite film. In essence, these three processes are the drying and bonding processes of aluminum foil, paper and plastic film with ink or coating adhesive.
In the actual production and processing of pharmaceutical packaging materials, many quality problems are mostly related to raw materials such as packing aluminum foil, film, and paper. Therefore, improving and stabilizing the quality of aluminum foil, plastic film, paper, etc. is the basis for quality control of medicinal aluminum foil and medicinal composite films.
The raw material used to produce medicinal packing aluminum foil is industrial pure aluminum foil, which usually requires a thickness of 0.02mm, a tensile strength of 98kPa and a tensile strength of 90kPa. The surface is clean, flat, wrinkle-free and indentation-free, and there is no fluorescent material on the surface, and the wetting tension is not less than 32.
The pinhole degree requirement of medicinal packaging aluminum foil is that pinholes with a diameter of 0.1~0.3mm should not exceed 1/m2. Since pinholes in aluminum foil are penetrating defects, health foods and medicines will be reduced or deteriorated due to the intrusion of oxygen, water vapor and light, so the requirements for pinhole degree are very strict. In addition, if the thickness of the aluminum foil exceeds the specified deviation (10%), it will affect the coating amount of the adhesive layer and protective layer.
Haomei Aluminum offers bulk aluminum foil for medical packaging. After customers purchase our pharmaceutical aluminum foil, they need further processing to get the finished packaging for the medicine enterprises.
Coating is a very important step. Medicinal PTP aluminum foil is a coating material with a structure of protective agent (pre-coating agent)/aluminum foil/heat sealant. The heat sealant is used to bond polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyvinylidene chloride (PVCD), cold stamped aluminum and other hard sheets. Our coating amount refers to the amount of heat sealant.
The unit or the heat sealants is GSM (grams per square meter). According to the national standard YBB, the coating amount of heat sealant should be between 3-5GSM. For European and American countries, 6-8GSM is the coating amount of medicinal aluminum foil produced in compliance with European standards.
So what are the differences between different coating amounts? The amount of coating is closely related to one of our testing indicators - tensile strength. In the national standard, we use tensile strength to detect the adhesion between medicinal aluminum foil and PVC. The minimum standards are 7N/15mm (PVC) and 6N/15mm (PVDC). Such data can generally be achieved with aluminum foil with a coating volume of 3-4GSM.
For European standard high-coating products, judging from our own laboratory data, the tensile strength of a 6gsm coated sample can reach 9N/15mm (PVC). The higher the heat sealing strength of the blister package, the better the sealing effect of the medicine, which can prevent gas from entering the blister from the poor heat sealing area and causing deliquescence and oxidation of the medicine.
In terms of price, the higher the coating volume, the higher the product price will be. Therefore, the best way is to make a selection based on comprehensive consideration of the characteristics and cost factors of the packaged drug itself.
